With over 27 years in the financial services industry, Aaron Peck, Managing Director, 1847Financial Dallas-Fort Worth, is redefining leadership by empowering financial professionals to succeed on their own terms. Much like the iconic Burger King slogan, “Have it YOUR way,” Aaron’s approach is about flexibility, support, and partnership. His commitment to building genuine, trust-driven relationships has made a lasting impact - not only in Dallas-Fort Worth, but across the country. Now, let’s take a dive deep into Aaron’s leadership philosophy.
What made you decide to join the financial services industry?
I went to school for IT while I was working for a bank and had a chance to watch the investment guy across the way helping so many clients. I paid off all my bills, resigned, and went to the Ohio State University for personal finance.
What roles have you had along the way?
I have been blessed to help 400 clients over a 4- or 5-year period early on in my career. The balance of my career has been spent leading various teams and firms.
How long have you been with your firm?
I have an interesting answer to this question. My first day with 1847Financial Dallas/Fort Worth was March 16, 2020, the first day the pandemic shut the U.S. down! To be able to grow the firm during such an unprecedented time, is a testament to our team.
What does your firm offer that others don’t? What makes you stand out?
I believe our firm does one thing very well - partner with various financial professionals to help them grow and maintain their business. We bring industry-leading products, a financial planning tool/philosophy (LEAP), a weekly study group to build community, a strong local support team, systems to ease client interactions, and a great broker-dealer to boot.
How do you partner with financial professionals?
This is a hard question to answer because I believe we are nimble and that is important to many financial professionals. We know there are many ways to run a practice, market, and grow. We partner on their terms - the way they want to partner.
Why would someone join your firm?
We are not the right fit for every financial professional, but I chose to be here because my practice and trajectory matches this organization’s value-add very well.
Give me an example of how you’ve helped a financial professional grow their business.
We listen and help consult with our financial professionals. We help them make connections with other FPs or professionals, so they can grow their own teams.
Describe your ideal recruit.
We tend to work well with successful insurance and investment professionals looking to take their practice to the next level.
How does your firm stay ahead of the curve (creativity, technology, etc.)?
Our firm utilizes anything from social media to generate clients and awareness, to applications that can be approved in minutes electronically.
What advice would you give a financial professional looking to change firms?
Research, create a wish list, and go out and find it. You know what your clients and your practice need better than anyone. Make sure that the practice you envision years from now can be supported with that partnership choice. It all starts with trust and doing the right thing.
What has been your biggest success in your career?
The biggest success of my career would be the relationships I have built over the past 27 years. I have met some amazing individuals and had the opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun along the way.
How have you seen first-hand how financial products have helped clients?
I think financial products are the result of proper planning and discipline. It can be difficult for some families to set aside the time. Guiding those families and making the journey to financial freedom easier and more efficient is what it’s all about.
Do you have a quote or saying that you live by, or that guides you?
Diversify! Diversify everything in life. Too much of a good thing is usually bad at some point. Find a balance in finances, diet, and exercise … just about everything in life.
What do you do for fun? In your free time?
At this point in my life I tend to spend a lot of time with my kids and the family. Six kids ranging from two months to 21 years is a huge span!
