In a profession where longevity and loyalty are becoming increasingly rare, few names carry the weight and legacy of George Koumoutsos. With an impressive 47-year career with Penn Mutual, George has built a thriving practice as Founder and Managing Partner of Omega Financial Group. Omega is part of 1847Financial, headquartered in Akron, OH and Pittsburgh, PA. His practice is grounded in Penn Mutual’s Financial Professional (FP) Value Commitment, known as the 9 Diamonds, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
In this special anniversary spotlight, George reflects on what helped him succeed, why this career is meaningful, and why, after all these years, the FP value proposition still works.
A Career That Began and Endures with Penn Mutual
George began his journey with Penn Mutual on April 8, 1978. Fresh from a role in the surgical suite of a Cincinnati hospital, his entry into financial services was unexpected yet serendipitous. A close friend approached him about life insurance and the interaction sparked both a personal and professional transformation. Not long after purchasing his first policy, George received a call from the general agent, and the rest is history.
“I started with Penn, and have been here ever since,” George shares. “It’s been a good 47 years. The good far outweighs the bad, and there’s never been a reason to leave.”
A Practice Rooted in Service and Specialization
George operates out of Anderson, Ohio, just east of Cincinnati, and serves a broad range of clients, though his primary focus is medical professionals. "We’ll help anyone who needs us," he says, "but our niche has been in the medical community."
He credits the strength of his team, particularly his partnership with Lindsey Landin, for their ability to offer full-service financial planning, from retirement and long-term care planning to insurance and everyday financial questions. “Lindsey brings a strong grasp of technology and platforms like eMoney, allowing us to stay current and serve clients more effectively.”

The Family Feel & Personal Touch
When asked what has kept him loyal to the same firm for nearly five decades, George points to culture, responsiveness, and relationships. “It’s felt like a family. Especially with Hornor, Townsend & Kent—our meetings, our interactions—they have a different flavor. They’re more personal. More human.”
That sense of connection extends beyond his immediate network. “To go to a meeting and have Chairman, President and CEO, Dave O’Malley walk up, shake your hand, and ask how you're doing—that doesn’t happen everywhere,” he explains. “There’s a personalized touch that means a lot to me and my family.”

9 Diamonds: Biggest Impact on Business Growth
As Penn Mutual celebrates 30 years of the Financial Professional Value Commitment, George reflects on which diamond has made the greatest impact on his business.
“Honestly, they’ve all been important,” he says, “but I’d highlight the broker-dealer support. The service from Hornor, Townsend & Kent has always been exceptional. Their responsiveness has been integral to mine and many of my peers’ longevity and success. “Anytime we call, they’re eager to help and add to our success. That’s huge.”
Adapting with the Industry
Having started in an era where financial services were largely transactional, George has seen firsthand how the landscape has shifted.
“Advisory business has been the biggest change,” he says. “It’s more about comprehensive financial planning now. Clients expect a deeper, more holistic approach, and the advisory model gives us time to dig into their unique questions and concerns.”
Again, he credits his collaboration with younger advisors for helping him stay current: “You really can teach an old dog new tricks,” he jokes. “Teaming with Lindsey helped us embrace the advisory model and serve clients more completely.”

Advice for the Next Generation
For those just starting at Penn Mutual, George offers two pieces of wisdom: try to partner with an experienced advisor and lean into the support available.
“Team with someone experienced. It can be overwhelming on your own,” he advises. “And don’t hesitate to reach out to the Home Office. They’ve always had our backs.”
A Grateful Heart and a Final Reflection
“We really appreciate the Home Office support. We know their jobs aren’t easy either. And even if we’re having a bad day, that appreciation is always there.”
As Penn Mutual marks three decades of its 9 Diamonds commitment, George Koumoutsos stands as living proof of those values in action: loyalty, teamwork, service, integrity, and enduring relationships. His 47-year journey isn’t just a milestone—it’s a blueprint for building a meaningful and lasting career rooted in purpose and people. Congratulations, George and thank you for the example you’ve set.
