Empowering Women: Carol Brian's Financial Journey

Carol Brian’s career in financial advising is rooted in resilience, passion, and an innate talent for money and people. Losing her father at a young age, she was raised in a household full of strong women, unaware of societal disparities in pay and opportunities. When she realized those inequalities, it ignited her lifelong mission: empowering women to achieve financial independence.

Her early career revolved around money management. While working at a bank to support herself through college, Carol entered the world of residential mortgage lending, focusing on debt management for nearly two decades. However, the 2008 housing crisis became a turning point. "I was chewed up and spit out," Carol recalls, but it gave her the space to discover her true passion: helping individuals manage their assets before debt became a problem.

The transition from debt management to asset management wasn’t just a career change for Carol; it was a mindset shift. She realized the importance of addressing financial health proactively rather than reactively. “Helping people manage debt was crucial,” she explains, “but saying, ‘Let’s start at the beginning and manage your assets’ has been transformative.”

Finding Her Niche: Empowering Women

Initially, like many financial advisors, Carol worked with a broad client base. However, she found that conversations with women came more naturally and led to stronger, more organic connections. Organizations like the American Businesswomen’s Association (ABWA), Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS), and the Lancaster Chamber’s Women in Business program became pivotal in shaping her approach. Through these networks, she discovered the power of female support systems, where genuine asks are met with an eagerness to help.

"I found myself spending time with the exact type of clients I wanted to serve: significant wage-earner females, single heads of household, and the primary financial decision-makers in their homes,” she says. Aligning with her ideal demographic not only energized her but also led to greater success. She prioritizes working with female professionals, referring her clients to women attorneys, tax preparers, and even car salespeople, creating a network that uplifts women across industries.

This approach is deeply personal. Carol’s life experiences, including serving as executor of her mother’s estate and assisting hundreds of families with death claims, give her unique insights into the challenges women face. “I know how to be with people when they’ve lost the most important person in their life. My superpower is empathy—helping them make objective decisions in the fog of grief.”

Carol’s work goes beyond numbers; it’s about trust, empathy, and connection. She draws from life experiences to guide her clients through life’s challenges. Her annual gratitude letters, encouraging clients to embrace generosity, reflect her holistic approach.

“My mission is to build powerful connections, financial abundance, and equality for women,” Carol shares. By surrounding herself with a network of female professionals and empowering her clients, she has built a practice—and a life—focused on creating meaningful impact.
